You Are Healing the World
Many of us are feeling powerless right now. Powerless to stop the coronavirus. Powerless over when businesses will open again. Powerless over when a vaccine will be available. Powerless over our feelings.
It’s a tough time for many.
Despite these challenges there is a beautiful light shining from the writers of this world. I am reading many stories of hope on Medium every day.
This article is to remind you of the power that you have as a writer to heal the world.
Yes, you do have the power to heal the world.
In every generation there has been a crisis of some kind. During and after the crisis people turn to writers to give them a sense of hope.
Some writers create fiction to escape in. Some writers create romance novels to help people remember the power of love. Some writers write spiritual essays to give us hope that things will get better.
Whatever your flavor of writing, you are giving us all a way to feel our feelings and to find our way through the crisis.
I started writing as a child. It was my way of expressing my feelings. I didn’t believe that I had any other way of letting people know how I felt. Being an introvert, writing is the perfect vehicle for me to express my thoughts. It is therapeutic on a deep level. I always feel better after I write.
I’m sure you have had the experience of reading a piece here on Medium and feeling better afterwards. Your life was touched somehow, and it was changed.
I believe that you are far more beautiful on the inside than you believe yourself to be. This truth is at the heart of everything I write. It is a fundamental truth that I aspire to live by.
Allow me to expand on this to help you understand where I am coming from.
Many of us do not understand our worth in this world. We walk around with a feeling that we are broken. We falsely believe that we are defective and need to be fixed.
This feeling of being defective has led many of us to withhold our gifts from the world. We stop short of declaring that we are amazing. We don’t want to be arrogant or self-indulgent.
This belief of being less than is false.
It’s patently incorrect.
The truth is that you are the magnificent result of billions of years of evolution. It took billions of years to perfect the body that you have. It took trillions of lives to come up with the right stuff to create your life.
That’s just your physical body. This very temporary home.
How about your soul?
That has always been perfect, because it has always existed. No adaption or tweaking necessary. From the beginning of time your soul has been, and it always will be.
This is good news. Many of us are concerned about issues like low self-esteem or feelings of shame.
We can be confident that our Creator thinks that we are awesome!
You the writer are tapping into this truth. You may call this Creator any name you want. You may even believe that there is no name for this Creator. That’s fine too.
You the glorious writer and scribe have the awesome responsibility of giving the reader permission to be themselves. In the privacy of their mind, they take in your words and are healed.
Let the words here serve as a reminder of your power to heal the world.
Thank you for everything you do to make this world a better place. I appreciate you!
